A place to rest and relax among huge dunes and 11 mile beach.
You are very welcome to join us, Rob and Val, at our isolated
former lighthouse shore station in this gorgeous most easterly
part of mainland Scotland opposite the northern tip of Denmark.
This is one of the driest, sunniest, midge-free areas of Scotland
and many hours can be spent exploring the shipwrecks and village
and chapel ruins.
The 1892 granite accommodation block has been renovated to form
a non-smoking, dog-friendly coastal retreat. The hostel offers
all the modern conveniences you would expect. Three bedrooms each
sleep 4 guests in two sets of very sturdy wooden bunkbeds with
built-in drawers, so offering male and female bedrooms if required.
There are two family rooms with a double bed and bunkbeds, and
also a private double/twin bedroom for that little extra privacy.
We are on the North Sea Trail footpath and the Aberdeenshire
Coastal Trail which follow the North Sea coastline. The North
Sea Cycle Route (Sustrans Route 1) is only 17 miles away where
it passes through this historic area full of stone circles, castle
ruins and golf courses.

NK103577 Between Scotland's premier fishing ports of Peterhead
and Fraserburgh are the two villages of Crimond and St. Fergus,
and between them are signs for Rattray. Follow these signs to
Old Rattray Farm where our postcode in centred and Satellite
Navigation says you have arrived. Here the public road becomes
a rough private farm track complete with potholes, and you
travel the mile to the end of the track where you will see
our house with the dunes and lighthouse behind.
